Interim Rector's Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Church of the Redeemer in Morristown, New Jersey, where you can learn a lot about this diverse and creative community of faith. Read about our mission, history, and upcoming events; listen to recordings of our wonderful choir; check out our newsletter and images of our worship services, social justice ministries, and fellowship gatherings. We hope that after you learn more about us, you will visit us at worship, Sunday mornings at 8:00 am (spoken Book of Common Prayer service) or 10:30 am (inclusive language service with music).

An Episcopal parish in the Diocese of Newark, the Church of the Redeemer was founded in 1852 by a group of people who were originally members of St. Peter's, Morristown. From its beginning and in every age this parish has tried to name the movement of God in its midst. At various times, this was found in the support of Alcoholics Anonymous, the ordination of women, the promotion of civil rights, and the care of people living with AIDS. Today we are intentional about living into the fullness of what it means to be an inclusive community. We are committed to the liberating power of God within our own lives and throughout the entire world. We are committed to being an inclusive family who understands that what unites us is infinitely stronger than what divides us.

As a Christian Liberation Community in the Episcopal tradition, we are creating a contemporary model of what it means to be a community of faith, striving to be clear about our identity and our commitments. We look forward to welcoming you.

Blessings on your journey,

The Rev. Lisa Green
Interim Rector
